Lindsay Zier-Vogel tells us of inspiration in papercuts

Monday, September 27th, 2010

When I left the Art Farm in Nebraska, I left a whole bunch of off cuts and paper bits with my fabulous housemate, Adele Phillips, architect and magic-maker extraordinaire…case and point: this amazing paper cut postcard she created out of those scraps of paper.

I must admit, I am impatient as all get out and not very precise when it comes to x-acto knives, but she’s inspired me to get paper cutting.  She promises the St. Armand cotton rag papers “cut like butter.”

And finding art like this toilet paper roll forest, created by artist Yuken Teruya, only further inspires…

Printmaker Vicki Cowan

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Vicki Cowan is an award-winning artist and a gifted instructor. Both experimental and productive, she shows new work regularly in a number of venues, and is much in demand as a workshop leader. Because her preference is to explore an idea in depth, Vicki usually makes a series to follow the branches of an original inspiration. Perception, cognition and memory are her particular areas of interest.

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Today, in conjunction with The Queen West Art Crawl, we were proud to host the talents of Rajiv Surendra in our front window. Rajiv has developed his own unique style of calligraphy drawing inspiration from penmanship styles of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Customers who purchased a piece of paper had the pleasure of having Rajiv create a custom piece for them. The event was a huge success, check out the pictures below!
