Cycling through the Post

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Two of my favourite things: my bicycle and letter writing.

So why not combine the two?

Tucked inside each envelope is a little packet of bicycle shaped paperclips. And there’s a 1974 bicycle stamp on every envelope.

Now it’s time to bike over to the nearest post box and get these sent!

Letter Writing Summer Social Success!

Friday, July 27th, 2012

As many of you know, this July has been Letter Writing Month here at the Paper Place. This past Wednesday evening, we held our Letter Writing Summer Social at the store – an evening of letter writing, socializing and treats!

This was our first time having an event like this one and we had both unanticipated attendance and SUCH a good time! Guests had access to our craft stash, vintage typewriter and were invited to participate in The Love Lettering Project and sift through vintage stamps to mail their creations at the Pop-Up Postal Outlet! Thank you so much to everyone who came out and participated, wrote some letters, snacked on macarons, chatted and made beautiful things! We also extend a very special thanks to Lindsay of the Love Lettering Project, Jaime of Send More Mail and Kate of Toronto’s First Post Office for joining us for this fantastic evening!

Cursive Letters

Saturday, July 21st, 2012

I have always had a thing for neat cursive handwriting.  This paper reminded me of learning the art of cursive.  Plus the green looks like the old chalkboards in my childhood classrooms.

I think it’s high time we get down to writing some fine letters together.  I’ll be writing (and typing!) away at the Letter Writing Summer Social this Wednesday July 25th from 7 until 9 in the evening.  Let’s write!

P.S. I’m head over heels for the days of the week washi tape!  Aren’t you?

Ahoy! Summery Nautical Notes

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Summer has arrived in Toronto in full effect.  Hello heatwave!  I sat down (poolside) to write some letters earlier this week.  Nautical notecards pair up perfectly with zodiac stamps and graph paper tape.

I’m planning a little bike ride to the Toronto Islands next week.  It’s our little piece of paradise in the city.  Let’s hope I get there more than once this summer!

Happy writing!

You’re Number One!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

I’ve been short on free time lately but still itching to craft.  What better way to spend an afternoon then to make cards using metallic gold and silver stickers?  The award ribbon stickers were perfect for my  typewritten “You’re Number One” cards.  (I also made a “Number One Dad” card since Father’s Day is just around the corner.)

With Titanic postage and silver starburst seals the cards are ready for the post!
