Cycling through the Post

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Two of my favourite things: my bicycle and letter writing.

So why not combine the two?

Tucked inside each envelope is a little packet of bicycle shaped paperclips. And there’s a 1974 bicycle stamp on every envelope.

Now it’s time to bike over to the nearest post box and get these sent!

Cursive Letters

Saturday, July 21st, 2012

I have always had a thing for neat cursive handwriting.  This paper reminded me of learning the art of cursive.  Plus the green looks like the old chalkboards in my childhood classrooms.

I think it’s high time we get down to writing some fine letters together.  I’ll be writing (and typing!) away at the Letter Writing Summer Social this Wednesday July 25th from 7 until 9 in the evening.  Let’s write!

P.S. I’m head over heels for the days of the week washi tape!  Aren’t you?

The Art of Correspondence

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

My friend Wolfgang and I have been writing letters to each other for over a decade. We are both artists and over the years shared not only words but ideas and images. The letters themselves have turned into pieces of art. Larger sheets of Japanese paper such as Kozuke or Gampi Smooth give our letters an old world feel especially after they have been folded and put through the mail. Japanese decorative papers such as Edo Kosome Grey add more of a playful feel to what is being written.

Be creative. It will be appreciated.
