We sell a wide variety of 12 x 12″ patterned card stocks. Most of them are double sided and would be perfect for the scrapbooking enthusiast in your life.
If you don’t scrapbook, they look great framed and instantly liven up an Ikea frame.
Many people come to The Paper Place looking for scrap-booking and album supplies. We carry a lovely selection of albums that serve duel purpose with their flat pages, velum separators and forgiving spines. They also come in a range of prices, from the Nepalese paper to Rag & Bone raw-silk-covered albums.
Albums are such a personal item and it’s a good idea to think of the individuals you are reflecting inside them before making your selection of book and embellishments.
I have chosen two Semi-Kolon albums reminiscent of our old album covers to make a new home for my photographs.
My first album, the one in orange, will focus on my late Grandmother, who raised me. In putting it together I decided to eschew the idea of chronology and instead try to form short narratives on a page.
I’m somewhat notorious for minimalism– I can’t even wear two different colours at once, but my Grammy loved colours and floral patterns; she once dressed like Ikea, at Ikea. I felt it was important to reflect her personality by dressing up some of the pages with backgrounds of Italian Decorative papers– delicate but cheerful prints she would have loved.
In cutting the papers to size I measured the album pages from the projected bend of the page, just beyond where the vellum rests. If you make a mistake in cutting, being off by just a little bit won’t hurt, just paste from the outer edge of the page, the slight difference in the gutter space won’t be noticeable. The pages may warp a bit from the glue but the pressure and weight on the pages when closed will flatten them out soon enough.
On the pages with decorative background I used the photo corners-giving more of a vintage feel. On other pages I went with archival adhesive squares for a clean look.
The album project is something I waited for a while to do, letting enough time pass. The timing coincides with photographs recalling my Gram being included in a publication and exhibition at LE Gallery. The show will run from August 23rd to September 1st.
